It's late at night and I am dancing to Cyclone, the seventh track on Some Kind of Illness' 2017 album. I don't know why I started from the middle of the record but I can tell you the track is a total head bobber. However, it's not a party dance, I am alone in my room, my headphones on, the world's gone. 'There is a cyclone in my sky again, twisting everything I have said'. Although sparse, the vocals are meaningful. Some Kind of Illness' words employ an intelligently crafted symbolism.
But there is more to this LP than dance beats for lonely nights owls and lyrical metaphors, the lush synths will guide you through a series of wonderfully constructed layers which will resonate with you for a long time.
I also found some kind of spiritual guidance in this album, just go and listen to a track like Snowflakes.
Dark ambient vibes, psychedelic synths and dance beats, here is the Manchester based band's latest album for you; it all sounds like a hi-fi Radio Department record.
